Ready to wet a line in some of the best inshore waters Texas has to offer? Captain Roger Perez of South Texas Outcast Guide Services has you covered with this half-day Corpus Christi fishing charter. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just getting your feet wet, you're in for a treat as we target redfish, speckled trout, black drum, and flounder in the rich coastal waters of the Lone Star State.
This 4-hour trip kicks off bright and early, giving you prime time on the water when the fish are most active. We'll hit the scenic flats and calm bays around Corpus Christi, known for holding monster reds and gator trout. Captain Roger's got years of experience under his belt and knows these waters like the back of his hand. He'll put you on the fish and show you the local tricks to land 'em. Best part? It's a private charter, so it's just you and your buddy (or date, or kid) getting Roger's full attention. No need to lug your gear either - we've got quality rods, reels, and tackle all set for you. Just remember to grab your Texas fishing license, some grub, and something to drink, and you're good to go.
We'll be mixing it up with different techniques to maximize your chances of a cooler full of fish. Expect to do some bottom fishing for those tasty black drum, drift fishing across the flats for reds, and precision casting for speckled trout hanging around structure. Captain Roger will show you how to work a popping cork, when to switch to soft plastics, and how to present live bait for the best results. The shallow, grassy flats around here are perfect for sight-casting to tailing redfish - there's nothing quite like watching a big red crush your lure in crystal clear water. And if the conditions are right, we might even pole the skiff for a stealthy approach to some monster trout.

Redfish: These copper-colored beauties are the crown jewels of Texas inshore fishing. Known for their powerful runs and distinctive spot near the tail, redfish (or red drum) love to cruise the shallow flats and marshes. They'll hit everything from live shrimp to topwater lures, and their strength will put your tackle to the test. Fall is prime time for big bull reds, but you can catch them year-round in Corpus Christi.
Speckled Trout: Also called spotted seatrout, these fish are a favorite among light tackle enthusiasts. They've got a soft mouth, so a gentle hook set is key. Specks are ambush predators, often found near grass beds, oyster reefs, and channel edges. Early mornings and late evenings are your best bet for topwater action, while soft plastics work well throughout the day. The 'gator' trout (over 25 inches) are the stuff of legends around here.
Black Drum: Often overlooked but definitely not underappreciated, black drum are hard-fighting and great-eating fish. They've got sensitive barbels under their chin that they use to feel for crabs and shrimp on the bottom. We'll target them with fresh cut bait or peeled shrimp. The bigger ones, called 'Big Uglies', can top 30 pounds and put up one heck of a fight.
Southern Flounder: These flatfish are masters of camouflage, blending in perfectly with the sandy bottom. We'll look for them around drop-offs and creek mouths, especially during their fall run to the Gulf. Flounder have a unique sideways strike, so it's all about feeling that thump and giving them a moment before setting the hook. They're considered some of the best eating fish in the bay, so landing one of these is always a treat.
Look, whether you're itching to bend a rod on some bruiser reds, want to test your skills against some crafty trout, or just looking to spend a morning on the water with good company, this Corpus Christi inshore trip has got you covered. Captain Roger knows these waters inside and out, and he's passionate about putting clients on fish and showing them a good time. You'll come back with new skills, great memories, and if the fish are cooperating (which they usually are), a cooler full of fresh fillets for dinner.
Remember, the early bird gets the worm - or in this case, the fish. These morning charters book up fast, especially during peak seasons. So if you're ready to experience some of the best inshore fishing Texas has to offer, don't wait. Grab your spot on the boat, and let's go catch some fish!

Had booked a trip with with another guide, paid a deposit , verified the night before, but the guide intentionally doubled booked and left prior to our arrival with other customers. No communications as evident guide would not answer phone. Contacted Capt. Roger Perez from recommendations from the folks at Marker 37 for possible booking. Capt Rogers sacrificed his Sunday day off and was at the boat ramp within 30 minutes. We (party of 4) were fishing within 30 mins. He put us on fish at various locations and as result all limited out on trout trout plus 2 red fish, not to mention all the ones that did not make the slot and returned to the water. The trip lasted 8 hours. We've had many guides in our past adventures, but Capt. Roger Perez, is by far on top of the leaderboard. Have to mention his music was an added feature that we all identified with. Thanks to Roger for not having to travel over 230 miles, only to turn around and go home without having our fishing trip.. Highly recommend!!

Black Drum are hefty cousins of the popular Redfish, known for their distinctive croaking sounds. These bruisers typically weigh 5 to 30 pounds, but can balloon up to 90 pounds. You'll find them in brackish waters, hanging around oyster beds and mudflats. They love crunching on shellfish with their powerful jaws. Spring is prime time for Black Drum fishing, as they school up to spawn. Anglers dig 'em for their strong fight and good eating, though stick to smaller ones under 15 pounds for the best flavor. To land one, use fresh crab or shrimp on the bottom. Here's a local tip: when you feel a bite, let the fish run with it for a few seconds before setting the hook. Black Drum can be finicky, so giving them time to really take the bait improves your odds. And don't forget to listen for that telltale drumming sound – it might just lead you to a honey hole.

Redfish, or Red Drum, are the rockstars of our inshore waters. These copper-colored beauties usually run 20 to 30 inches, but can grow over 40 inches and hit 50 pounds. You'll spot 'em cruising the shallows, often with their backs out of the water. They love hanging around oyster reefs, grass flats, and marshy edges in 1 to 4 feet of water. Fall is prime time when big schools move into the bays. Anglers go nuts for Reds because of their hard-pulling fight and excellent table fare. To catch one, try sight-casting with topwater lures or soft plastics. Here's a local tip: look for "tailing" Reds in super shallow water, where their tails stick up as they root for crabs in the mud. Sneak up quietly and make a precise cast – it's one of the most exciting ways to hook these bruisers.

Sea Trout, or Speckled Trout, are a favorite inshore catch here in Corpus Christi. These silvery, spotted beauties usually run 14 to 24 inches and 1 to 5 pounds, though some monsters can hit 40 pounds. You'll find them in grass flats and shallow waters, especially at night. They're suckers for shrimp and small fish. Fall and winter are prime Trout seasons when they school up in deeper channels. Anglers love 'em for their sporty fight and delicate, flaky meat. To hook one, try topwater plugs at dawn or dusk for some exciting surface action. Here's a local secret: on calm days, look for slicks on the water's surface. These oily patches are often signs of feeding Trout. Cast near the edges of these slicks, and you might just land a trophy speck.

Southern Flounder are odd-looking flatfish that blend right into the bottom. They typically range from 15 to 18 inches, but can grow up to 33 inches and 20 pounds. You'll find them in shallow coastal waters, bays, and estuaries, usually on sandy or muddy bottoms. These ambush predators are masters of camouflage, lying in wait for prey to swim by. Fall is prime time for flounder fishing as they move to deeper waters. Anglers love targeting them for their tasty white meat and the challenge of hooking a fish that's practically invisible. To catch one, try drift fishing or still fishing with live bait like mullet or shrimp. A local trick is to use a slip-lead rig with a single hook - when you feel a bite, give it a few seconds before setting the hook. Flounder have a habit of grabbing bait sideways, so patience is key to landing these flatfish.
